Why I Didn’t Abandon Projects Initiated By Late Yakowa – Yero

Mukhtar Ramalan yeroGovernor Mukhtar Yero of Kaduna State has said as a firm believer of “continuity”, he will not abandon any project initiated by his former boss, late Gov. Patrick Yakowa, who died in a helicopter crash in December, 2012.

The governor, who gave the assurance when leaders and members of the Yoruba Community in the state paid him a courtesy visit at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, Kaduna, on Wednesday, explained that it was based on this that his administration had yet to initiate new projects on infrastructure in the state.

He said the government was determined to complete ongoing projects initiated by the Yakowa administration rather than initiating other new projects.

According to him, the present administration believes in the ideology of continuity and will not abandon ongoing projects to initiate new ones.

He said, “I believe it is more economical to complete projects that are already ongoing because public funds have already been invested by the past administrations that awarded the contracts.

“It will amount to wastage for us to just come and abandon projects when monies have already been invested on them simply because we want to initiate new ones”.

The governor commended the Yoruba community in Kaduna State for living peacefully with other ethnic groups while also urging them to actively participate in all developmental initiatives in the state.

Earlier, President-General of the Yoruba Community in the 19 northern states, Allhaji Ganiyu Oguntoyinbo, commended Yero for his efforts at promoting peaceful co-existence in the state.
