Women Are More Reliable Than Men In Politics – Obasanjo

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has described women as more reliable than men in politics, Vanguard reports.

“In politics, women are more reliable than men. When a woman says she’s with you,you can really take that she is with you,” said Obasanjo on Wednesday, while receiving some national executives and members of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) at his residence in Abeokuta, where they presented him with Father of the Nation award.

“One of the best journalists that ever served me was a woman, and that was the late Mrs Oluremi Oyo,” the former president added.

Oyo, who died on October 1 was the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to Obasanjo from 2003 to 2007 during the former president’s second term in office.

He advised that politics be played with decency, dignity and honour that women are known for.

He expressed displeasure at the cultural and religious constraint in Africa that often hinder the women of the continent from exhibiting their potentials. Obasanjo said this had to change as men cannot on their own build the nation.
