The Zamfara State office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has distributed 925,000 permanent voter cards out of the 1,100,032 printed for the state, since the commencement of the exercise.

This was disclosed by the State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Alhaji Abubakar Umar Wara during an interactive session with religious groups and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in Gusau on Friday.

He appealed to prospective voters who had not collected their PVCs to ensure they do so without further delay, as “one can only vote if he or she has the permanent voter’s card.”

According to him, the issuance of the cards is an on-going exercise and will continue until every eligible voter has gotten their PVCs.

“The distribution of the cards had been decentralised, as they could now be collected at registration centers and ward levels between of 8.30 a.m. and 5.30 p.m. on working days,” he added.
