This was disclosed in a statement from the Office of the Envoy in New York.

Mr. Brown recalled that there were three attacks over the past week where girls were used which blew them up in crowded areas in Nigeria.

He said that, in contravention of international law, children were now being fired on indiscriminately as easy targets by Boko Haram.

Mr. Brown said they were also exploited as slaves and sex objects and deployed as suicide bombers.

“As we approach the first anniversary of the kidnapping of more than 200 Nigerian girls from their Chibok School, we must resolve to do more against Boko Haram,” Mr. Brown said. “We must ensure that children are better protected by supporting President Goodluck Jonathan’s Safe School Initiative.

“It is time for the whole world to condemn Boko Haram’s evil use of young girls as suicide bombers to carry out their murderous attacks. These children have been exploited and abused.

“We must do everything in our power to protect others who might be forced into becoming suicide bombers committing even more violent and shocking atrocities.

“As we approach the first anniversary of the kidnapping of the Chibok girls from their school, we must resolve to do more to ensure children are in safe schools and not victims of senseless acts of war.”

The United Kingdom has condemned the Nigerian government over its inability to end the lingering war with the Islamist Boko Haram sect.

The condemnation was made by the UK’s Foreign Office Minister Hugo Swire while addressing the British Parliament on what UK had done over the growing insurgency in the Northeast as well as contributions towards emplacing developmental infrastructure to reduce poverty and illiteracy.
