Group Carpets Fayose For Using Ekiti Resources To Sponsor Political Campaigns

Ayodele-FayoseA group of concerned professionals under the aegis of e-11, has advised Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State to watch how he is spending the state resources on political causes, which have no direct bearing on the people of the state.

The group also urged the people of the state to actively involve themselves in the general elections and vote for candidates with proven accounts of integrity and service.

The group stated this in a statement by its Chairman, Mr. Femi Ajiniran, on Wednesday, adding that all Nigerians had pivotal roles to play to create a Nigeria free of socio-economic challenges.

The statement read in part, “Governor Ayodele Fayose’s careless spending that does not have impact, either direct or indirect, on the people of Ekiti State in spite of the ominous signs of economic downturn, must stop.

“The governor has been placing hate adverts in some national dailies while the Ekiti State Government is struggling to pay staff salaries.

“Nigeria has been facing economic hardship with the rate of unemployment soaring and the value of the naira against other currencies declining fast. This has catalysed an unprecedented increase in the prices of goods and services in the country. This must be addressed instead of placing hate adverts”.

The group also urged law enforcement agencies to investigate the alleged Ekiti election rigging audio tape indicting a former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro; Minister of Police Affairs, Mr. Jelili Adesiyan; the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State, Iyiola Omisore; and a businessman, Chief Chris Uba, among others.

The group said, “In spite of the weighty allegations that the will of the people was subverted, the presidency has dismissed the Ekiti election rigging tape. This is unacceptable”.

The e-11 also called on Ekiti people to vote and ensure their votes count in tomorrow’s general elections.
