Ideye Pulls Out of Eagles Friendlies Due to ‘Minor Injury’

Brown Ideye’s return to international football has been hit by revelations that the West Bromwich Albion forward is nursing a minor knock.

Ideye missed Saturday’s 3-0 defeat at Manchester City and will be sidelined for a week.

Super Eagles media officer, Toyin Ibitoye, said the striker has pulled out of the friendly matches against Uganda and South Africa.

“A minor injury has forced Brown Ideye to pull out of the friendlies against Uganda South Africa,” Ibitoye said.

“We wish him a speedy recovery and hope to see him when the Nations Cup qualifiers start in June.”

Ideye has not featured for Nigeria since the 2013 Confederation Cup in Brazil. He earned his recall for Wednesday’s duel with Uganda in Uyo and next Sunday’s clash with South Africa in Nelspruit in light of his rich vein of form at the Hawthorns.
