Sunshine’s Odunlami & Aggrey Accept ‘Disrepute’ Charge

Sunshine Stars duo Kunle Odunlami and Prince Aggrey will not face further sanctions after ‘apologising’ to the League Management Company (LMC) over their indecent conduct during a Match Day 4 Glo Premier League match against Dolphins.

Both players stripped down to their pants to celebrate the Akure Gunners’ last-gasp 2-1 win at home to Dolphins FC. They were handed a “disrepute charge” each and given 48 hours to either accept the LMC sanction or request for a private hearing with a special LMC commission.

Chief Operating Officer of the LMC, Salihu Abubakar, said the pair wrote separate correspondences to apologise for their action.

“The two players have written to accept full responsibility for their bad behaviour and have accordingly apologised to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF, the LMC, our broadcast partners, Supersport, the owner of the club,; the Ondo (State) Government, their employers; the Ondo State Football Agency, supporters of Sunshine Stars and the general public,” Abubakar is quoted as saying on the league’s official website.

Odunlami and Aggrey were thus commended for owing up to their misconducts and “admonished to be of good behaviour” in subsequent games.

Sunshine Stars were without the suspended duo as they suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of El-Kanemi Warriors in Kano on Wednesday. The duo will also pay a sum of N50, 000.

Club Managements are further advised to discharge their technical responsibilities to players and other personnel by providing continuous enlightenment on codes of conduct and other rules of the game.
