Another Trekker Arrives Abuja…In Wrapper

Another 46-year-old trekker, David Adjarho, has arrived Abuja, today, May 27, to promote ‘wrapper marathon’  in Nigeria.

Adjarho, speaking to Newsmen on his arrival in Abuja, said the exercise was to promote tourism and attract investment into such a marathon.

The trekker according to Vanguard, started his journey in Lagos and completed the 787-kilometer walk on Wednesday, May 27, 2015.

Speaking on his awareness, the trekker said wrapper marathon was aimed at promoting the use of wrapper in marathons instead of wearing the conventional Jaycees.

Adjarho, who wore a 15-yard Ankara material, said he hoped to promote a N500 million fund raiser for five Non-Governmental Organisations in the country.

He listed the NGOs as Beach Samaritan; Active 8; Government College, Ughelli old Boys Association; 3-1 equal 2 and the Biggest Food Library in Nigeria.

He said another reason for his walk from Lagos to Abuja. was to be a witness to the the inauguration of the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari.

The trekker said: “I have been the only man involved in wrapper marathon in the world and if embraced in Nigeria, the competition will attract revenue and investment into the tourism sector. I started this walk on May 6 from the National Stadium, Lagos and here I am now in Abuja on May 27.’’

Though Adjarho’s efforts are not politically motivated, numerous trekkers in Nigeria, since the announcement of Buhari as the president-elect have taken it upon themselves to trek long distances to congratulate him and other victors at the just conclude 2015 general elections.
