Anthony Ujah To Join Bremen From Cologne In Close Season

Nigeria international, Anthony Ujah is set to join Werder Bremen from fellow German Bundesliga club, FC Cologne at the end of the season.

The 24-year-old has signed a four-year deal with Bremen expected to run until 2019.

The Weserstadion outfit confirmed on Tuesday that it has triggered a release clause inscribed in the striker’s contract which enabled them to finalize a deal with the Cologne side.

“Negotiations with Anthony were intense and lengthy, and we made sure we had a complete picture,” Werder Bremen’s sporting director, Thomas Eichin, said.

“He’s quick, dangerous in front of goal and can continue his development with us.”

With Bremen expected to lose Davie Selke to Red Bull Leipzig at the end of the season in a deal which will see them earn $8.9m, Ujah is thought to be a replacement for the German striker. However, details of the fee involved in signing the Nigerian has yet to be released.
