I’ll Reclaim My Mandate At The Election Tribunal – ‘Mama Taraba’ Jummai Alhassan

Aisha AlhassanThe governorship candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) in the last governorship election in Taraba State, Senator Aisha Jummai Alhassan, has said that the results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, was not the true reflection of the people’s votes.

Aisha, who stated this yesterday in Jalingo during an interview with journalists, reiterated her stand to challenge the victory of Arc Darius Ishaku of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) until she regains her ‘stolen mandate’.

It would be recalled that Ishaku was declared winner of the Taraba governorship election with 369, 318 votes to Alhassan’s 275, 984 votes.

Speaking on her next line of action, the Senator said “As I’m speaking with you, I have submitted my petition to the tribunal secretary, to challenge the process and outcome of the gubernatorial election which was not the true reflection of Taraba people”.

She also shut down rumours that she had rescinded her decision to go to the Election Tribunal after being assured of a ministerial position by President-elect Muhammadu Buhari, adding that it was a ploy by the PDP to deceive the public.

The APC candidate stressed that it was too early for anybody to begin to peddle such rumours when Mr. Buhari’s government was yet to be inaugurated.

“I have heard these rumours, I’m sure these are PDP rumours because they don’t want me to file this petition.

“They know that the mandate of the people is mine and I am more determined than ever before to get back this mandate given to me by sons and daughters of the state”, she noted.

Mrs. Alhassan expressed the confidence that she would get justice at the Election Tribunal, noting that were “glaring evidence and facts” to prove that she won the governorship election in the state.
