Flying Eagles Midfielder Nwobodo Returns on Friday after Surgery

Nigeria Under-20 international Obinna Nwobodo is expected back in the country on Friday after completing treatment on a damaged knee in Qatar.

The midfielder tore his anterior cruciate ligament during the final match of the 2015 African Youth Championship between host Senegal and Nigeria in Dakar on March 22

He was flown out to Qatar to be treated at the Aspetar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital in Doha.

Nwobodo had his final MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) on Tuesday and was declared fit to start training again.

“Obinna Nwobodo was injured on national duty and we feel duty –bound to give him full treatment to recover and return to the game that he loves so much. We are happy that this has been achieved and the player will return to Nigeria on Friday,” NFF General Secretary Dr Mohammed Sanusi said.
