Ogun’ll Buy More APCs To Tackle Crime – Amosun

IBIKUNLE-AMOSUNibikunle-amosun-ogun-stateGovernor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun says the state will soon take delivery of new sets of Armoured Personnel Carriers to complement the existing ones in the state.
He gave the assurance in his office on Thursday while receiving the new Commissioner of Police, Abdulmajid Ali.
According to Amosun, the Gateway State had remained safe as a result of the existing synergy between the government and the security agencies, adding that his administration would continue to empower security agencies to effectively discharge its responsibilities.
He said, “I am very happy that you are coming at a very crucial time that the state has a huge task of policing some of the busiest highways that are under the watch of the state – the Lagos – Ibadan Expressway and part of the Sagamu-Benin Expressway.
“I know if we get the security right, then development will take place without any hindrance. I want to assure you that we will buy more APCs and also increase the number of our squadrons. We should also look at how we can increase the number of the area commands and personnel notwithstanding the dwindling federal allocation”.
Earlier, the new police boss said his mission in Ogun state “is to fight crime to a standstill”.
He added that policing could not be effective without the support of the government.
Ali, however, assured residents of the state that the command under his watch would not tolerate any form of extra-judicial killing.
He said, “I urge the residents of the state to continue to have confidence in the police as the present crop of leaders in the force are determined to ensure that things go on smoothly”.
