Inspirational Sunday!!! Learn The Rewards Of Being A Proverbs 31 Woman

Beautiful blackwoman

Last week I started a conversation on just how close we are to the Proverbs 31 woman.

We took a deeper look at verses 10-15 and compared the scripture to our modern day lives. Verses 16-31 remind us again, that although some of the wording may not be applicable to us today, the majority of today’s wives are already living a Proverbs 31 life.

16 She considers a field and buys it;

out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.

17 She sets about her work vigorously;

her arms are strong for her tasks.

18 She sees that her trading is profitable,

and her lamp does not go out at night.

19 In her hand she holds the distaff

and grasps the spindle with her fingers.

20 She opens her arms to the poor

and extends her hands to the needy.

21 When it snows, she has no fear for her household; for all of them are clothed in scarlet. She makes coverings for her bed; she is clothed in fine linen and purple.

23 Her husband is respected at the city gate,

where he takes his seat among the elders of the land.

24 She makes linen garments and sells them,

and supplies the merchants with sashes.

25 She is clothed with strength and dignity;

she can laugh at the days to come.

26 She speaks with wisdom,

and faithful instruction is on her tongue.

27 She watches over the affairs of her household

and does not eat the bread of idleness.

28 Her children arise and call her blessed;

her husband also, and he praises her:

29 “Many women do noble things,

but you surpass them all.”

30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;

but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.

31 Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.

Some may read this passage of scripture and wonder how does being a wife of noble character benefit her. Just imagine all that we do. It may seem, initially, like it’s all give and no take.

As wives and mothers, we are responsible for managing our households, loving our men, and when we can, maintaining our own well-being to do it all again. Most of us pride ourselves on our roles. There is reward in being a good wife.

Just like the Proverbs 31 wife, we too have strengths that support our loved ones and make our husbands proud to have made us their top choice. From scheduling appointments, to planning the schedules of our children, we pay attention to the details and ensure every member of our household is provided for.

Our decision making comes as a result of careful consideration. Many of us modern day wives don’t rush into decisions that affect our families.

As the Proverbs 31 woman considers a field and buys it, we research, ask questions and think long-term before we make big moves. We consider our futures and use our wealth to invest in our children and build up our homes.

We are typically ride or die when it comes to our precious loved ones. As women, we have a long history of demonstrating our strength and being the backbone to everyone we care about. Our light is usually the guide for those who love us most.

Today, we support causes, run marathons, organize fundraisers, and raise our voice to support those in need. We also prepare for hard times and are strong in our faith.

We trust God and are confident that this too shall pass. We carry our family on our backs and hold them down through thick and thin. Modern day wives are even more powerful than we’ve given ourselves credit for.

This woman takes pride in her appearance and she knows her beauty goes beyond the surface. Today’s Proverbs 31 woman is a mother in her church. She leads prayer circles and ministries and recognizes nothing is more important than her relationship with The Lord.

Although being a mom and wife are both thankless jobs, we’ll continue to choose it every time because we are nurturers by nature. We hustle hard with daytime jobs and side businesses, because we know we are worthy of the best that life has to offer. Many of us aren’t sitting back and waiting for things to happen, we’re making them happen.

God has provided this example for a specific reason. It’s a realistic goal that we should be striving to obtain. But, again some may be wondering why.

Why would we make all of these sacrifices? What’s in it for us?

Marriage is a gift. A good marriage is a blessing. God needs to know how grateful we are. What better way to demonstrate our gratitude than by how we treat our blessings.

Words can’t describe how good it feels to be trusted, loved and needed. Because God has blessed us with this amazing responsibility, He has also provided us with everything we need to carry it out.

Our marriages and families deserve the best of us. If our rewards never come in the exact way we expect, know that in you, God will be well pleased. When we love properly, and make sacrifices, there won’t be any regrets. There is definitely reward in that.
