Election Tribunal: We’ve A Solid Case – Akwa Ibom PDP

PDP1The Peoples Democratic Party in Akwa Ibom State has assured that it is on course towards proving that Udom Emmanuel was validly elected as governor by the people of the State.

Speaking with reporters after Thursday’s session of the governorship election petitions tribunal in Abuja, counsel to PDP, Tayo Oyetibo (SAN), said the party was as strong as ever in the case.

Oyetibo, who was reacting to the ruling by the tribunal, which dismissed the application by PDP for additional witnesses, said the ruling did not affect the strength of the party’s case in any way.

The PDP counsel said: “Since the evidence we were bringing is still along the same line as the evidences we have led, we are not disturbed by the ruling. We are not disturbed and we remain as strong as we were before the application was made”.

Objecting to the application, Solomon Umoh (SAN), who appeared for the petitioner, had said the reasons advanced by the second respondent for the additional witnesses was not sufficient grounds for it to be granted.

The tribunal headed by Justice Sadiq Umar, thereafter, struck out application and ruled in favour of the objection.
