New Islamic Year: Kano Declares Wednesday Public Holiday

Abdullahi-Umar-GandujeGovernor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano state has approved Wednesday, October 14, as public holiday in commemoration of the New Islamic Year 1437AH.

In a press release signed by his spokesperson, Baba Dantiye, the governor congratulated the people of Kano and all the Muslim Umma for witnessing the New Year.

He also used the occasion to condole with the families of those who lost their lives in the two incidences in Saudi Arabia, which led to the deaths of so many people and prayed for the quick recovery of those that sustained injuries.

Ganduje also appealed to the people to use the public holiday in offering prayers to the Almighty Allah for peace and prosperity in Kano state and the country as a whole.

Gov. Ganduje then reassured the people that the state government will continue to work hard towards improving the living standard of the people especially by according education both Islamic and Western they priority they deserve.
