Shema Denies ‘Last Minute Road Contracts Award’ In Katsina

Ibrahim-ShemaThe immediate past governor of Katsina State, Barr. Ibrahim Shema, has disputed claims that his administration awarded several last minute contracts to create problems for the state.

Governor Aminu Masari had during a project inspection on Thursday, accused the Shema administration of awarding N7 billion in “a funny way”.

Reacting to the allegation on Friday, the ex-governor said, “That is far from the truth” and challenged his successor to publish the “hurriedly awarded road contracts”.

Shema, who spoke through his Head of Media, Oluwabusola Olawale, noted that of the 62 road projects carried out, only four were awarded in 2014.

He added that the road projects and many others were executed without any loan.

Shema, therefore, called on the APC government under Masari, to focus on providing dividends of democracy “instead of fighting the opposition”.
