APC Youth Group Pleads With Buhari To Retain Arase As IG

PMB-IGPFollowing reports that President Muhammadu Buhari may sack those appointed by the previous administration after the March 28 presidential election, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth Initiative for Positive Change has urged the president to retain Mr. Solomon Arase as the Inspector General of Police.

Then President Goodluck Jonathan had appointed Arase on April 21 following the sack of Suleiman Abba as the IGP.

Reacting to the reports in a communique at the end of its meeting held in Kaduna and jointly signed by Dalhatu Yusuf, Luqman Ibrahim and Tahir Giwa, Chairman, Secretary and PRO respectively, the APCYIPC said IGP Arase since his tenure has established profound land marks and mileage with exceptional pedigree especially in crime reductions and future deterrence.

“The Inspector General has carved a niche for himself in the practical deployments of tactical initiative in the operations of the Nigerian Police. It is on records that the IGP responded to the ultimatum given by President Buhari on the recent kidnap and rescue of Chief Olu Falae. That singular feat has bought more credibility and honour to the President, Nigeria and the Police Force”, the youths said on Saturday.

The organisation further said Arase has contributed tactical teams to the joint operations with the armed forces to degrade the operational capabilities of criminals and their cells in jungles for criminal activities from cattle rustling, kidnapping and armed robberies.

They, therefore, urged President Buhari to retain and even extend the tenure of Arase so that the passionate and fearless achievements of the Police could be sustained and improved upon.
