Confusion In Court As Man Brings Own Feces As Evidence

A defendant brings so-called evidence to a Portland court that leaves the judge and lawyer shocked. Ricky Cheeks, 52, was in court on a misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge.

As courtroom audio from The Oregonian shows, Cheeks brought in his own feces as evidence claiming that he was being targeted in jail. Cheeks put the feces in an envelope full of legal papers and placed it on a desk in the courtroom.

“This fecal matter was left in my cell yesterday after I got back from court. So, how am I supposed to protect myself, sir, from all these atrocities in this court system,” said Cheeks. Judge Jerry Hodson was clearly shocked to hear what Cheeks brought into his courtroom. “For health reasons I think we should remove the fecal matter from the desk,” said Judge Hodson.

Deputies took the envelope containing the feces out of the courtroom and disposed of them. FOX 12 learned Cheeks has a long criminal history and was diagnosed with schizophrenia in October, but a judge determined he was competent to stand trial. The disorderly charges against him were dropped, but he is now facing drug charges in Washington County.
