Court Arraign Three Over Kidnap, N300, 000 Fraud

A 45-year-old businesswoman, Rabi Shado, was on Tuesday, arraigned before an Igbosere magistrate’s court for alleged kidnap.

Shado and two others, Edwin Ubba, 43, businessman, and John Agba, 47, a civil servant, were docked before Magistrate Abimbola Komolafe on a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy, unlawful confinement, kidnap and stealing preferred against them by the police.

The prosecutor, Inspector Stephen Molo, told the court that the defendants and others, who were still at large, committed the alleged offences sometime in August 2008.

According to him, the incident which took place at E4, Satellite Town, Ijegun area of the state, saw the trio unlawfully confined and detained one Jude Odionu against his will and also fraudulently obtained N300, 000 from one Onyeka Odionu, under the sham of treating Jude Odionu’s mental illness.

The Magistrate Komolafe granted the defendants bail in the sum of N200, 000 each, with two sureties each in like sum, who must show two years tax payment and verified addresses.

He adjourned the case till November 17.
