Sokoto Police Command Presents N25m Insurance Claims To Families Of Deceased Officers

Solomon-AraseThe Sokoto State Commissioner of Police, Salisu Fagge, has presented cheques of over N25 million insurance claims to families of deceased police officers in the command.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Mr. Fagge made the distribution at the command headquarters on Wednesday to 16 next of kins of the officers who died in the line of duty.

Mr. Fagge said the payment was part of the officers’ entitlements.

“Whenever an officer lost his or her life in line of duty, it is paramount to the command to fight for their entitlements in order to minimize the pains encountered by the families.

“The money is for the family the take care of the deceased next of kins especially, the welfare of the children, which includes the payment of school fees, among others”, he said.

Mr. Fagge also said the exercise was for the first set of the money released by the insurance companies.

He stated that other entitlements, including their gratuity would be paid later.

He added that the 16 beneficiaries were given a cheques of N500,000 to N6 million as insurance covers of the deceased.

While condoling with them for the loss of their loved ones, he called on the beneficiaries to utilize the money given to them for the purpose they were designated.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Fatima Yahaya assured the command that they would utilize the money given to them in the right manner.

Ms. Yahaya thanked the command for its care and support towards improving their living standard.
