The rusted-out remains of a 1955 Porsche 356 Speedster discovered decaying in a California barn sold for more than $152,700 on eBay. Ebay seller danshan1 wrote on the auction site that the car was parked in a barn when it “developed ugly noises” in 1974 and there it remained for 41 years.

The seller said his research indicates the Speedster was No. 212 of 1,700 built in 1955. The $152,701 high bidder won the rusted-out car, as well as the title and an uninstalled engine.

Rod Emory, owner of California Porsche restoration company Emory Motorsports, told Fox News the buyer might be able to restore the vehicle for $200,000 to $250,000 worth of work. He said the restored car would be worth an estimated $400,000, but he expects the price for the collectible car to go up to $500,000 within a couple years.
