Abductors Of Ondo Governorship Aspirant Demand N20m Ransom

Victor OlabintanThe abductors of the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship aspirant in Ondo State, Victor Olabimtan, have demanded a ransom of N20 million.

The guber aspirant, who was en route Abuja, was abducted on Sunday evening around the Kwali area of the Federal Capital Territory by gunmen reportedly dressed in military fatigue.

Mr. Olabimtan, a former speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, last Thursday, in Akure formally declared his intention to run for the governorship election in the state on the platform of APC.

Confirming the incident to reporters on Monday, the director of publicity of the APC in the state, Steve Otaloro, said the kidnappers had got in touch with Mr. Olabimtan’s Initiative For Change and Emancipation to make a N20million demand.

“We are deeply concerned and saddened that an esteemed Nigerian is in this trouble and will like to appeal to security agencies to expedite action on his rescue”, he said.

“Our deepest sympathy goes to his family at this trying time as we continue to appeal to all Nigerians to continue to condemn and denounce such acts in our society”.
