Fake Hajj Agent jailed For Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission secured the conviction of a man named Mallam Kabiru Jibrin, before a Justice of Gombe State High Court. Mallam Kabiru was arraigned on a three count charge bordering on obtaining one million, five hundred and sixty thousand naira (N1.560.000) by false pretence.

The complainant, Aliyu Audu Awwal, alleged that he defrauded him and one Mallam Hussani Kumo, of the sum of N1.560,000 on the pretext that the said amount will be used to secure Hajj seats for them. He never did and diverted the money for his personal use. He also collected an Honda Accord car 2005 model from him under the same guise that he will sell the car and use the proceed to secure additional Hajj seats.

Justice Joseph Awak of Gombe State High Court pronounced him guility and sentenced him to six years in Jail.
