David Cameron Announces His Resignation After UK Votes To Leave EU

The first casualty of Thursday’s referendum where UK voted to leave the European Union is Prime Minister David Cameron.

Cameron who was a staunch supporter of the ‘Remain’ position will see the crucial vote to leave the EU as a sign of his increasing unpopularity. He has announced that ‘fresh leadership’ will be required’ and he disclosed that he will quit his position as Prime Minister in October.

His acceptance of the referendum was grudging as he said, “The British people have voted to leave the European Union and their will must be respected, The will of the British people is an instruction that must be delivered.”

With more than 30 million people voting, 51.9% decided in favor of leaving the EU, making Britain the first country to leave the organization since its formation.
