According to reports, Apple Inc. is considering a bid to acquire streaming service, Tidal in what looks to be a bid to to bolster Apple Music.

Tidal is owned by rapper Jay Z after acquiring it by Swedish company Aspiro for $56 million; Calvin Harris and Beyonce also have shares in the company.

Despite buying the company last year, Tidal has struggled to match its biggest rival Spotify and has only made inroads this year after securing exclusives from Beyonce and Kanye West.

With just 4.2 million paying customers compared to Spotify’s 30 million, Tidal is far from turning a profit and just might consider a great offer from Apple.
