Buratai Backs Acting IGP’s Plan To Establish Joint Operation Centres Nationwide

Ibrahim K Idris-Tukur BurataiThe Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, yesterday threw his weight behind a plan by the Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris, to set up Joint Operation Centres (JOCs) across the country.

Buratai gave his blessings to the plan when he received Idris during a courtesy visit at the Army Headquarters in Abuja.

“The Joint Operations Centres is a very good concept. If pursued, we are going to have effective operations that will produce very, very effective results in pursuance of national security and defence”, Buratai said.

The Army chief said the centres should have representatives from the Force Headquarters and state command headquarters, which is vital in the coordination of various security efforts.

“It is a welcome development and the army will join you, even today, we have officers ready and trained to work with you to ensure that our operations are coordinated. We are going to give you full support, we all know that the police are the lead agency in internal security operations, this is recognized by the Nigerian Army and we will continue to give you support”, he added.
