Arsenal are reportedly interested in the services of Napoli talisman Gonzalo Higuain.
Despite being Serie A top scorer last season with 36 goals, here are four reasons why the Gunners are better off spending that amount on another striker.
1- Higuain is 28-years old. It would be ludicrous for Arsenal to splash a huge fee on a player entering the final lap of his football career.
It would have been a better deal had he joined the North London club in 2013, but the Argentine opted to join his present club.
2- New Country- Players coming from foreign leagues have difficulties adapting to the fast-paced and physical nature of the Barclays Premier League, and Higuain is bound to face such difficulties.
3- New Manager- Arsene Wenger has one-year left on his contract and whispers around the Emirates are that he is unlikely to renew his contract. If he decides to walk away, a new Manager at the club could unsettle Higuain’s position.
4- Giroud is still valuable- Despite unfair criticism directed to Giroud from Arsenal fans, the Frenchman again showed his worth for his country France at the Euro 2016 tournament; netting three goals in the process and helped them reach the final where they were beaten on Extra-time by Portugal. Arsenal including Giroud to sweeten the deal for Higuain is poor business.
