PROSPER CHIDERA OJOKWU WINS COPA COCA-COLA 2016 GOLDEN BOOT

Prosper Chidera Ojukwu who shined throughout the COPA Coca-Cola tournament as a leading star has emerged winner of the COPA Coca-Cola 2016 Golden Boot. This was following his emergence as the tournament’s top scorer, after his team FOSLA Academy, Abuja defeated its Lagos counterpart, Rockford Junior College, Ikorodu, in the third place match by penalty shoot-out after goalless 90 minutes.

The FOSLA Academy forward won the Golden boot award after scoring 10 goals, which kept him ahead with at least two goals more than any other player in the tournament.

15-year-old Prosper has been celebrated as one of the tournament’s real star players, even though his goals could not earn his team the trophy, which left him to say he might celebrate the award at a later time. “Maybe later I can feel proud, but for now, it’s about the team. I’m very disappointed; I really wanted to offer them the trophy.”

Nigeria Schools Sports Federation General Secretary, Olabisi Joseph, said “Prosper Ojukwu was a threat in every game he played. He works hard for his team and possesses technique, vision and quality finishing that benefits the team.”

Prosper was a front-runner for the Golden Ball too, as he finished two goals ahead of Koma Million, the Most Valuable Player of the tournament.
