On this day in 2015; GOVERNOR Ayodele Fayose  declared that he is a one man army who cannot be overwhelmed by machinations of the outgoing legislators of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the State House of Assembly and at the national level also.

Also on this day in 2015; A Boko  Haram suicide bomber  sneaked into the Maiduguri Abattoir at Cattle Market (Kasuwan Shanu) killing 10 people and injuring scores of others.

Equally on this day in 1976103 hostages were rescued by an Israeli commando unit at a raid on Entebbe airport in Uganda in operation Thunderball (later re-named Operation Yoni). Seven pro-Palestinian guerrilla hijackers, twenty Ugandan soldiers and three hostages were killed in the raid.
And on this day in 1962; The Algerian Revolution against the French ended.
Algeria eventually gains independence after 132 years of French rule. Abderrahman Farès was appointed as President of the Provisional Executive.
