N’Delta Avengers Deny Emergence Of Breakaway Faction

Militants (1)The Niger Delta Avengers has debunked claims of a split in its ranks following the emergence of a group, Reformed Niger Delta Avengers, RNDA, on Friday.

The RNDA, in a statement issued by its spokesperson Cynthia White yesterday, said it decided to break away from the NDA, the militant group behind recent resurgence of violence in the Niger Delta, which brought oil production down to 1.2million barrels per day from almost 1.8million barrels, following what it said was “wise counsel” it received from former President Goodluck Jonathan.

It also offered to join the MEND Aaron Team 2 peace initiative, which is in talks with the Nigerian Government “through the clearing house of Niger Delta Dialogue and Contact Group (NDDCG) headed by HRH, King Alfred Diette-Spiff”.

The splinter group, which pledged cooperation with government by “exposing the identities of our comrades who remain stubborn in their insistence to continue attacks”, added that “it will shock the nation to know the Jekyll and Hyde personality behind the pseudonym ‘Brigadier General  Murdoch Aginibo’ (NDA’s spokesman) and our sponsors”.

It advised the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to also embrace peace by accepting the concession secured by MEND for the release of the detained Executive Director of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, saying those advising the IPOB founder to reject the renunciation of Biafra as a condition for his release, “do not love him or appreciate the level of treason this simple act of common sense humility can extricate him from”.

It warned the IPOB that the Niger Delta will “no longer be your proxy in a war to achieve your ambition”, while pressing on the NDA to “stop being defiant and embrace peace and the wise counsel we all received from former President Goodluck Jonathan”.

However, the NDA, in a statement issued Saturday morning said: “The NDA is too busy at the moment to be distracted by people like Jude Kekyll, he is not part of us and cannot be part of us. All our operatives are united and we are all together”.
