3 Reasons Why Abuja Uber Drivers Are Now On Strike

Popular Taxi service, Uber is facing operational troubles. Just days after Uber lost its right to classify its drivers as self-employed in the UK, it is now facing troubles in Nigeria.

Its Abuja Partner Forum has announced that starting today, Uber drivers will proceed on a strike until the resolution of their grievances.

Here are three of the reasons the drivers are proceeding on strike;

  • Uber drivers in Abuja are demanding an increase in per minute rates to N30/min as well as a base fare rate to N3000 (from N220)
  • The introduction of penalties for prospective riders when they keep drivers waiting for very long
  • Improved procedures for resolving issues of the drivers.
