DSS Arrests Two Supreme Court Justices

Two justices of the Nigerian Supreme court, Justices Sylvester Ngwuta and John Okoro – have been arrested by men of the Department of State Services. They were arrested in the early hours of Saturday morning as officials broke into their personal residences.

It remains unclear why they were arrested but they have remained in the custody of the DSS.

Punch Newspaper quotes an aide of one of the justices as saying,

“What I can tell you for now is that Justices Ngwuta and Okoro were arrested early hours of today.

“We do not know the reasons for the arrest yet. Justice Onnoghen was not among those arrested.”

Justice Nnamdi Dimgba was also one of those whose houses were searched but he was not arrested.

There has been no official statement from the DSS on their arrest.
