Unconvincing Manchester City Lose 1-0 To United

It is now six matches without a win for Pep Guardiola and Manchester City as yet another indifferent performance ended in a 1-0 loss to rivals, Manchester United in the EFL cup.

The derby was largely a drab affair as Pep chose to rest most of his first team players while United named a strong squad.

The only consolation for City would have been that Vincent Kompany started yet another match and if he can manage to stay fit, there might yet be an end to their defensive woes.

Just as they played against Southampton, City looked laborious and took ages to build up play. Their attack had all the power of a blunt knife as they stroked the ball sideways without ever posing a threat.

United remained the better team and were rewarded for their efforts in the second half through a Juan Mata goal. The game fizzled fo an end with Mourinho finally claiming his pound of flesh over Pep.
