Manchester City central defender, Vincent Kompany has suffered his 35th career injury at the club and is expected to be out for 4-6 weeks. Kompany was City’s defensive mainstay for several seasons but has seen his influence in the team diminished by several injuries over the last two seasons.
He has now spent more time sidelined in the last two seasons than any other player at the club and was forced off before the end of City’s encounter with Crystal Palace after a collision with Claudio Bravo.
“Dr Cugat confirmed what the doctors here said,” Guardiola said in his pre-match conference on Friday. “He will be four to six weeks out.”
City have looked fragile in defense and have rarely managed a clean sheet this season even while they enjoyed a ten-match winning streak.
