Passengers heading to Mexico City on a flight got the shock of their lives when they spotted a snake on board the plane.
The reptile was found seen in the Aeromexico plane which took off from Torreon heading to the Mexican capital, the air carrier said in a statement distributed on Tuesday.
In accordance with existing rules, the aircraft with the unusual passenger was given priority when landing at the airport. There was no panic on board, and no one got hurt.
Veterinary services said the snake was one of the species that habituate the northern part of Mexico, and was non-poisonous.
“Together with local authorities, we are trying to understand how the snake got onboard. It could have gotten there by itself or in the luggage of one of the passengers,” Aeromexico said in the statement.
