Game Of Thrones-Themed Bar To Open In Scotland

In January, a Game of Thrones-themed bar is to open in Edinburgh, capital of Scotland, reports say.

The bar, Blood & Wine, is modeled on medieval public houses.

The drinks menu is made up of drinks found in the Song of Ice and Fire novels.

Our menu consists entirely of drinks mentioned, drunk, thrown or poisoned in the novels or the show and boasts a wide selection of wines, spirits, ales and infusions,” said Linden Wilkinson of Geek Social, the organisers behind bar.

Open every Wednesday and Thursday evening throughout January, the themed bar offers guests the chance to partake in a little meat and alcohol in the experience of being on a journey through the Seven Kingdoms.

Visitors can expect to sample the Wines of Westeros wine tasting flight, as well other delights such as Arbor Gold, The Imp’s Delight, the Old Bears Hot Spiced Wine and Black Tar Rum.

Having previously created pop-up events in English cities of London and Norwich, Wilkinson was keen to go north of Britan in 2017.

We are incredibly excited to bring Blood & Wine to Edinburgh – we can’t think of any other city whose history is as – if not more – exciting than the world created by George R.R Martin. In fact, Edinburgh Castle acted as the inspiration for the infamous Red Wedding,” he said.

Adding, “We think a city as beautiful and atmospheric as Edinburgh is the perfect place to host Blood & Wine, it’s absolutely on par with Kings Landing.

Geek Social are working closely with venue Daylight Robbery, Edinburgh-based sword retailers The Knight’s Vault and Royal Mile Whiskies to bring a true Game of Thrones experience to the place.

Fans of other cult TV shows and books are also in for a treat as Geek Social revealed they have more exciting pop-up experiences in the works.

This is just the first in a line of exciting pop-ups we are planning to bring to Edinburgh,” says Wilkinson. “We also have plans and ideas for the future surrounding things like Harry Potter, Stranger Things and the Walking Dead”.
