Uganda’s President Names His Son Senior Adviser

Uganda’s President, Yoweri Museveni has named his son, Maj Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba as Special Presidential Adviser following a reshuffle of army commanders.

72-year-old Museveni, who is one of Africa’s longest serving leaders has sparked fears that he is grooming his son, who has gained rapid promotion within the army, for the Presidency whenever he steps down.

42-year-old Maj Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba graduated from the UK’s Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in 2000 and has in 17 years become Major General. Nevertheless, a Ugandan military spokesperson has played down the fears of critics, claiming that the reshuffle was normal.
