It was another sad development as the body of a woman who was apparently raped, murdered and dumped into a river in Umuahia, the Abia State, was recovered by the state police command.
Abia Facts Newspaper reports that the body of the lady was discovered on the morning of Tuesday, February 28, 2017, at the Ihie Bridge.
The State Police Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Geoffrey Ogbonnaya who confirmed the shock find, said the woman could have been raped and killed by hoodlums who later dumped her corpse in the river.
DSP Ogbonnaya added that the State Commissioner of Police, CP Leye Oyebade, has been briefed of the development and has mandated the command to spare no stone in apprehending the culprits and bringing them to book.
