Read What Buhari Has Been Up To Since He Returned As He Prepared To Resumes On Monday

President Muhammadu Buhari has engaged in little activities since he returned to Nigeria from London after an extended medical vacation which kept him out of the country for 51 days.

The president returned on Friday, March 10a and said he would resume work on Monday, March 13 although he revealed he would be returning to the UK in a few weeks.

The jet-lagged president missed the Jumat service on Friday shortly after his return and according to The Punch remained indoors all Saturday.

A source said the president had been catching up with members of his family and had not entertained any official visitor.

The source said: “The President is indoors. He is spending time with his family members. You know he has been away for a long time. There is the need for them to catch up on some issues since he travelled.”

A source said only the family members of the president have visited him as it was observed that the Aso Rock Villa was devoid of activities.

Mr. Femi Adesina had said Buhri would duly transmit a letter to the National Assembly formally informing the federal lawmakers of his return from vacation.

The president is expected to urgently fill the two vacancies that currently exist in the Federal Executive Council while there are speculations that he might reshuffle his cabinet.

Meanwhile, Buhari’s return to the country spurred celebration in his hometown in Daura, Katsina state.

Youths were seen on the major roads bearing posters and chanting “Sai Baba” and “Baban mu ya dawo” which means “Our Father has returned”.

They also drove vehicles in displays in the streets as a way of showing their excitement at the return of the president.

It was reported that some rich people in the region paid Mai Shair joints to serve free food to people as part of the celebration following the president’s return.
