Police discovers criminals hideout at National Stadium

The Lagos State Police command  police have arrested 24 suspected criminals at a hideout at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.

The new Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG, Zone 2 Command, Onikan, Lagos, Adamu Ibrahim had ordered his men to raid the suspected criminals hideout at the National Stadium,.

The operation which lasted for four hours led to the arrest of 24 suspects. It was gathered that the suspected criminals used the stadium as their hideouts to rob members of the public.

Police identified some of the arrested suspects as Patrick Uchens, 32; Babatunde Omotayo, 42; Olukotun Olumide, 33; Testimony Basses Efiong, 32; Awolola Peter, 21; Olawale Oyeyipe, 35 and Omopaire Hassan 41.

Others include Ugochukwu Ikidingwu, 31; Christian Mark, 47; Ibrahim Sule, 31; Saheed Taiwo, 33 and twelve others.

Police source said during investigation, all the arrested suspects could not give satisfactory account of their missions at the National Stadium.

All the suspects were arraigned before an IgbosereMagistrate Court, Lagos on two-count charge of felony to wit. unlawful assembly at the National Stadium and constituting nuisance.

Police prosecutor, DSP Eshiet told the court in charge No G/31/2017 that all the suspects were arrested for using the National Stadium, Lagos for criminal intentions.

He said the offences committed were punishable under section 409 and 44 (2) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2011.

All the accused pleaded not guilty and Magistrate O.G Oghre granted them bail in the sum of N20, 000 each with one surety each in like sum.

Oghre adjourned the case till 19 June, 2017 for mention while 21 of the dsuspects remanded in prison custody pending when they would fulfill their bails conditions while three others were able to perfect their bail condition before the court closed proceeding for the day.
