‘Power Stations Are Out On The Island’ – EKEDC

In spite of the flood that erupted from the torrential downpour early Saturday, some power outlets have been reportedly damaged in the most expensive areas of Lagos state.
According to the Eko Electricity Distribution Comapny, the unsual flood wrecked havoc on the power equipment in Lekki, Ikoyi, Ijora, Victoria Island and some other parts of Lagos metropolis under its overage and this has left the residents of the mentioned in total blackout ever since.

In a statement singed by the company’s General Manager, Corporate Communications of EKEDC, Mr. Godwin Igbemudia, the affected residents were assured of power restoration as their staff members were already working rigorously to fix the power.

He said:

“Victoria Garden City, Waterfront, Maroko and Oniru injection stations are completely out. We need to look at the extent of the effect of the flood on our equipment.”

However, we are presently working round the clock to restore supply to our esteemed customers.”

EKEDC affirmed yesterday that the injection substations affected by the floods included the Lekki Transmission Station and those in Agungi, Lekki, Ademola and Anifowoshe.

Adding to this, the residents of Oniru Estate confirmed receiving phone text message from EKEDC to inform them of the situation at hand and the work in progress.
