All You Should Know About Ebony Reigns, The Rising Ghanaian Singer Cut Short In Her Prime

The world woke up to the tragic news on Friday, Friday 9th of the death of Ghanaian dancehall artiste, Priscilla Opoku-Kwarteng popularly known as Ebony Reigns in a ghastly car crash a few days to her 21st birthday.

Here are a few things you should know about her.

1.Ebony Reigns was born on February 16, 1997 in Dansoman, a suburb of Accra.Her father, Mr. Opoku Kwarteng hails from the Ashanti Region of Ghana and he is a chief in one of the towns in that Region.

2.She started her basic education at Seven Great Princess Academy in Dansoman, Accra followed by a high school education at Methodist Girls High School at Mamfe in the Akuapim North District of the Eastern Region, Ghana.She quit high school in pursuit of her music career.

3.She was discovered by renowned musician and entrepreneur Bullet of Ruff n Smooth fame when she sent a recording of her voice and was signed to his Rufftown record label just a day after listening to the recording.

4.Ebony came out with her first single, “Dancefloor”, in December 2015 with a video and audio release.

5.The song became a hit on radio landing her nomination for the ‘Unsung category’ at the 2016 Ghana Music Awards. Even though she couldn’t get the award, it was definitely a bold introduction into the music scene.

6.In March 2016 Ebony released her major hit single “Kupe”, which is a household anthem in Ghana and some other African countries.

7.She currently has 3 hit songs (Poison, Sponsor, and Date Ur Fada) that are making waves all over the country and beyond.

8.Her parents and siblings call her Nana Hemaa (Queen)
