Nigerian Military Gives Special Promotion To 3,729 Soldiers Fighting Boko Haram

3,729 military personnel fighting Boko Haram terrorists have been granted special promotion with the approval of Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai has approved the special promotion of 3,729 troops of Operation Lafiya Dole, who participated in Operation Deep Punch II in the Sambisa Forest.

A statement issued by Brig.-Gen Texas Chukwu, on Thursday said the promotion was in recognition of the troops’ valour and uncommon commitment to duty during the operation.

A breakdown of the beneficiaries show that 223 Staff Sergeants were promoted to the Warrant Officers, 511 Sergeants to Staff Sergeants, while 994 Corporals were promoted to the rank of Sergeants.

Others are 1064 Lance Corporals to Corporals, while 932 Private soldiers were appointed Lance Corporals.
