Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara has given his main reason for leaving the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC).
Dogara was on Thursday presented with the PDP House of Reps nomination form by his constituents.
According to him, they urged him to relinquish membership of the ruling APC and he said their reasons were “blatant injustice and outright disregard for democratic principles being perpetrated within the party.”
However, he revealed that, those are not the only reasons. The Speaker wrote via Twitter that he left the party because they said he must beg before he would be given the party ticket to represent his constituency.
He wrote :
That there have been infractions isn’t news, but what I have kept from the public – until this moment – is that even while reconciliation efforts were on, I was told to beg for a ticket if I wished to return to the House of Representatives.

I had even considered stepping aside as I’ve held this position for close to 12 years but as my constituents have asked that I seek re-election, then I must heed their call.

Dogara noted that he’s always honoured to represent his constituency but he shouldn’t be made to go through the indignation of having to beg before he gets the ticket.
I feel deeply honoured by this kind gesture; however, I will not fill this form until I have consulted with those supporters who remain in APC. I thank my people for their unwavering support so far, and remain unshaken in my belief that all power belongs to God.

That was really disrespectful
