Gernot Rohr Reveals His Greatest ‘Headache’ As The Super Eagles Coach

The head coach of the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr, has admitted that the ailment that led to Carl Ikeme’s retirement, was his biggest regret in charge of the team.

Speaking on “Monday Night Football”, Rohr described the experience as quite painful and heart breaking.

“If there is one thing I would say gave me the greatest headache, it was the sickness of Carl Ikeme, it was very disappointing,” he said.

It will be recalled that Ikeme contributed in no small measure to Nigeria’s qualification for the last World Cup in Russia, putting up impressive performances in the qualifiers leading to the tournament.

Unfortunately the 32-year-old was diagnosed with acute leukaemia just before the start of the World Cup, forcing him out of both national and club assignments.
