Fake news is saying you have killed Boko Haram leader, Shekau severally – Shehu Sani

 

Senator Shehu Sani has called on both government and citizens to stop spreading fake news, as it does the whole country no good. This comes, following clamours by  the federal government that citizens should shun peddling false news in the name of “freedom of speech” or “right of opinion”.

Speaking on fake news, the senator representing Kaduna Central at the senate, analysed scenarios were both the government and citizens have contributed to peddling fake news.

Speaking via Twitter on Tuesday, the senator said authorities  announcing that Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau had died severally was fake news, and inflating the number of causalities of troops, on the part if the citizens, is also fake news.

He wrote:

To repeatedly exaggerate the casualties of our gallant troops by the citizens is fake news;To repeatedly announce the killing and resurrection of the leader of the insurgents by the authorities is fake news.Fake news by the citizens and fake news by the Govt are all bad
