Why Vladimir Putin Wants Rap Controlled in Russia

The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, in a recent statement at St. Petersburg has called on cultural leaders to devise ways to control rap rather than an outright ban.

He hinted that if rap is impossible to stop then the Government must ‘lead it and direct it.’

Vladimir Putin stressed that banning the rap singers will have an effect on their popularity, so it would be in the best interest of the country to control it.

The Russian president said that rap is based on three pillars and they are ‘sex, drugs, and protest.’

He, however, stressed on the drugs part which he termed as the path to degradation of a nation.
