From Naijaloft President Umaru Yaradua has appointed Ogbonnaya Onovo as the acting Inspector General of police.
Onovo has previously served three former inspector generals and had previous acted as the nigerian inspector general of in 2007 before he was replaced by Mike Okiro.
A presidential spokesman announced on July 22 that Onovo was taking over as the nigerian inspector general of police since Mike Okiro has reached the mandatory retirement age of 60.
Ogbonaya Onovo was Born on february 7, 1953 in Enugu, Onovo attended the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (unn)where he earned a bachelors degree in Political science. He commenced his career with the nigerian police as a cadet Assistant Suoeritendent of police on August 1 1977 and has held various positions since then in the nigerian police.
Onova was also chairman of the national drug law enforcement agency (ndlea) between 1998 and 2000
