AMNESTY FOR NIGER DELTA MILITANTS GETS A BOOST AS MILITANTS SURRENDER


The Niger delta Amnesty deal spurred by the nigerian federal government has received a boost with some of the niger delta militant leaders in Bayelsa state turning in their Arms to the Presidential Amnesty Implementation committee.
The submission of arms by the niger delta militants in Bayelsa has quelled speculations that the niger delta militants from Bayelsa may not turn up their arms. About 350 rifles and two gunboats were surrendered by militants from Bayelsa state.
In a related event, The militants in rivers state have turned in 47 rifles, 14 dynamite and hundreds of ammunition.
The rehablitation centre in Bayelsa state for the surrendered militants has also been moved to the country home of the Vice president of nigeria Goodluck Jonathan.
A major Question that has plagued many a nigerian is the source of the thousands of expensive weapons wielded by the niger delta militants.
