Goodluck Johathan not to attend G8 summit

Recent reports suggest that President Goodluck Johathan will not be attending the G8 summit after all. Reports say that the President has canceled his scheduled trip to France where the G-8 summit is to hold following concerns over the presence of volcanic ash clouds resulting from the recent volcanic eruption in Iceland (Grimvotn).

The President who was to participate in the G-8 summit in France was scheduled to travel on Friday, 27th May to return to Abuja on Saturday in preparation for his inauguration on Sunday, 29th May. However the Avaition authorities have hinted that should the volcanic eruptions resume, the President might be unable to return in time for his inauguration on Sunday, hence his decision to absent himself from the summit.
